Silencer Nickel Semi-Flat in .045–.105 (NRL45105L) is the standard four-string set and where most players start.

Silencer bass strings are made with an inverse winding process that compresses the outer wrap while leaving the inside of the string intact. The smoother surface cuts most of the squeal you get dragging fingers along a roundwound, and the strings still sound much closer to a roundwound than to a flatwound. That smooth surface is also easier on an unlined fingerboard, so these suit fretless basses.
