About Power Groove Pure Nickel

Power Groove is the warm end of the S.I.T. electric range. A pure nickel wrap over a high-tempered hex core rolls off the hard edge you get from nickel-plated or stainless steel, leaving smoother highs, warmer mids and a rounder overall voice. It is the set for blues, classic rock and anything vintage-leaning.

Choosing a gauge

In standard tuning, .009–.042 (PN942 Extra Light) is the lightest and easiest to bend, and .010–.046 (PN1046 Light) is the balanced middle. For a light top with more weight underneath, .009–.046 (PN946 Rock N Roll) and .010–.052 (PN1052 Heavy Bottom) add low-end depth without stiffening the top. Heavier players and lower tunings are better served by .011–.050 (PN1150 Medium Light) or .012–.052 (PN1252 Medium), which also suit the thicker, jazzier tones pure nickel does well.

How Power Groove compares to our other electric sets

Power Groove is the warmest roundwound we make for electric. Power Wound Nickel is the middle of the range and the usual starting point. Power Steel Stainless is brighter and more aggressive. CRT Coated Nickel adds corrosion resistance for longer life. Semi-Flat Silencers cut finger noise, and Power Flat flatwounds go furthest toward a smooth, mellow response.
