About Golden Bronze 80/20
Golden Bronze is the bright end of our acoustic range. An 80% copper, 20% zinc wrap over a hard-tempered hex core gives more top-end shimmer, faster attack and sharper note separation than phosphor bronze. It is the sound most players picture when they think of a brand new set of acoustic strings.
That clarity is why it records well and why it holds its own in a room with other instruments. If your guitar already sounds bright, phosphor bronze may suit it better; if it sounds dark or muddy, 80/20 is usually the fix.
Choosing a gauge
.012–.052 (GB1252 Light) is the most popular set and the balanced starting point. For a lighter feel and less tension, .010–.048 (GB1048 Extra Light) is the easiest to play, with .011–.050 (GB1150 Pro Light) just above it. For heavy strumming, more volume and a stronger low end, .013–.056 (GB1356 Medium) is the heaviest six-string in the line. Twelve-string players have .009–.046 (GB12946 Extra Light) and .010–.046 (GB121046 Light).

On the 12-string sets the first line is the main course and the second is the paired course — unison on the top two strings, octaves on the bottom four.
How Golden Bronze compares to our other acoustic sets
Golden Bronze is the brightest roundwound acoustic set we make. Phosphor Bronze is warmer and more balanced. Royal Bronze is fuller still. American Roots Monel is the driest and most vintage-leaning. Semi-Flat Silencers 80/20 is this same 80/20 wrap in the same gauges with a polished surface that cuts finger noise, and CRT Coated Phosphor Bronze is the long-life option.
Made in the USA.
