Dulcimer Strings

Our dulcimer set is a four-string loop end set for the mountain (Appalachian) dulcimer, gauged so the tension sits evenly across a lightly built instrument. Loop end fits the pins on a traditional dulcimer without adaptation.

The set

DUL1220 runs .012–.020: three .012 strings and one .020. That is the standard four-string arrangement — a doubled melody course of two .012s, a middle string, and a .020 bass string. If your dulcimer has three strings rather than four, this set still fits; you simply have a spare melody string.

This is the only dulcimer set we make. For other traditional and folk instruments we make banjo sets in stainless, mandolin sets in phosphor bronze, a bouzouki set, and bajo sexto and bajo quinto sets. All of them are loop end.
