Scotty’s Non-Pedal / Lap Steel Guitar Strings – .015–.054 (SC8C6TH C6 8-String)
Made in Akron, Ohio. Ships within 2 business days.
Scotty’s lap steel set in C6th tuning, .015–.054 (SC8C6TH), eight strings.
C6th was used by a lot of players through the mid 1940s and 50s, but Hall of Fame member Jerry Byrd did more than anyone to make it famous.
Silencer strings are made with an inverse winding process that compresses the outer wrap while leaving the inside of the string intact. The smoother surface cuts the noise the bar makes travelling along the strings, and they still sound much closer to a roundwound than to a flatwound.
These were made with Dewitt “Scotty” Scott and his shop, Scotty’s Music in Missouri. Scotty founded the International Steel Guitar Convention, and these are the strings he played.
Made in the USA.
