Power Wound in .009–.084 (S8984) is our extended range eight-string set: a light top over a very heavy low string, for tuning below F#.
Power Wound is nickel-plated steel wrapped over a high carbon steel hex core: warm and punchy, with clear highs and strong mids.
The .084 low string is tapered, so the core rather than the wrap seats at the bridge. That keeps the intonation honest on a string this heavy.
