Power Steel Stainless Steel in .018–.090 (SR81890L) is the lightest of our three octave eight-string sets.
Each of the four courses pairs a main string with a second string tuned an octave above it, so the bass plays E, A, D and G with the octave ringing alongside.
Power Steel is a stainless steel wrap over a high carbon steel hex core. Stainless is the bright end of our bass range: harder attack, more top-end presence and a tighter low end than nickel, and it resists corrosion better, so it stays bright longer if you sweat or gig often.
Stainless makes the most of an octave bass: the octave strings are what a listener hears first, and a stainless wrap puts more chime and separation behind them than nickel does.
Fit: Standard long scale, for most 34" scale basses. About 37.25" usable winding length (ball end to taper), 48"–49" overall. Measurements are approximate. Made in the USA.
