Classical Strings

What is the difference between Medium and High tension classical strings?

Quick Answer

In our current sets, the treble gauges are the same in Medium and High tension, and High tension uses heavier gauges for the three wound bass strings. High tension sets generally feel firmer, with more resistance under the fingers, and can project a little more volume.

A Medium tension set generally feels more flexible and easier under the fingers. Neither is correct for every player or guitar.

Some classical guitars are built with a particular type of set in mind, so check your guitar's specifications or ask your luthier if you're unsure. Otherwise, choose the feel you prefer under your fingers.
