Classical Strings

What are classical guitar strings made of?

Quick Answer

In our Classits sets, the three treble strings are plain, clear nylon and the three bass strings are wound with silver-plated copper over a core.

Classical string construction varies between manufacturers, but plain synthetic trebles paired with wound bass strings are common.

A classical guitar is tuned E A D G B E, low to high, the same pitches as a steel-string acoustic or electric guitar. The tuning is the same, but the string construction and feel are not.
