S.I.T. Strings was founded in 1980 by Virgil Lay in Akron, Ohio.
Virgil built the company around manufacturing strings for working musicians, and the business has remained family-owned across multiple generations.
The company was later passed down to his grandson, Eddie Speedy, and members of the Speedy family continue to work throughout S.I.T. Strings today.
