Acoustic Strings

What is Royal Bronze?

Quick Answer

Royal Bronze is our premium phosphor bronze acoustic string. Its wrap wire is Fusion Wound, bonded to the core instead of simply wound onto it, so the set sounds fuller and more even than standard phosphor bronze and lasts longer.

The bonded construction is what you hear: more weight in the low end, more clarity on top, and less variation from one string to the next. It's also the longer-lasting of our two phosphor bronze lines.

Royal Bronze uses the same gauges as our standard Phosphor Bronze sets. Switching doesn't change the feel, action or neck relief, so you won't need a setup adjustment.

Royal Bronze gauges:

  • .010–.048 (RL1048 Extra Light)
  • .011–.050 (RL1150 Pro Light)
  • .012–.054 (RL1254 Light), the standard starting point, which matches P1254 exactly
  • .013–.056 (RL1356 Medium), the heaviest in the line and the gauge Aaron Lewis plays
  • .010–.046 (RL121046 Light), for 12-string guitars

Our Acoustic Signature Series is also built on Royal Bronze.
