Bass Strings

Can I use guitar strings on a bass?

Quick Answer

No. Bass strings are designed for the longer scale lengths, lower tunings and heavier gauges of bass guitars. Guitar strings won't fit or work properly on a bass.

Bass strings are built differently. They often use larger cores, multiple wrap layers, exposed-core designs, tapered sections and extended lengths.

Use a set made for your bass's string count and scale length.
