Should I use high G or low G on a tenor ukulele?

Quick Answer

Both are valid. High G uses re-entrant g C E A tuning. Low G tunes that string an octave lower for a linear G C E A and extends the range downward. Our Tenor Low G set includes a wound low G.

Low G doesn't always require a wound string, since low G strings come in different materials and constructions. If you're switching from high G, make sure the new string suits your scale length and fits the nut slot and other contact points.

Low G isn't limited to tenor ukulele, but compatibility depends on the instrument and string. Our Low G set is designed for tenor, so check your instrument's requirements before using it on a soprano or concert.
