About

Roosevelt Collier is one of the most celebrated pedal steel guitarists in modern music, renowned for his electrifying performances, innovative approach to the instrument, and deep roots in the Sacred Steel tradition. Raised in South Florida within the House of God Church, Roosevelt learned the pedal steel guitar as part of a rich musical heritage that transformed worship services into powerful, soul-stirring musical experiences.

A member of the legendary The Lee Boys, Roosevelt developed his distinctive style performing alongside his uncles and cousins, helping introduce Sacred Steel music to audiences around the world. Known affectionately as “The Dr.,” he quickly became recognized for his lightning-fast slide work, expressive phrasing, and ability to blend gospel, blues, rock, funk, jazz, and soul into a sound entirely his own.

Over the years, Roosevelt has become a sought-after collaborator and festival favorite, regularly serving as an Artist at Large at major music festivals across the country. His versatility and musicianship have led him to perform alongside some of the most respected artists in music, including The Allman Brothers Band, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Los Lobos, and The Del McCoury Band.

In 2017, Roosevelt joined Bokanté, the internationally acclaimed world music collective founded by Michael League and featuring vocalist Malika Tirolien. The project further showcased Roosevelt's ability to transcend genres and bring his unmistakable voice to a global audience.

Today, Roosevelt continues to perform worldwide, sharing stages with artists across every corner of the musical spectrum. He is also known for his work as a member of Jelly Roll's touring band, bringing the sound of the pedal steel guitar to new audiences while continuing to push the instrument's boundaries.
