About

Mike Spreitzer is a guitarist, songwriter, and longtime member of DevilDriver, known for his aggressive riffing, technical precision, and contribution to modern heavy metal over the last two decades.

Mike began playing guitar at the age of 10 and developed a strong musical foundation early on through both guitar and percussion. During high school, he played quads in marching band and served as co-captain of the drumline during his junior and senior years. After moving to Santa Barbara in 1999, he immersed himself in the local metal scene while studying music at Santa Barbara City College and later at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Before joining DevilDriver, Mike performed in several heavy and industrial metal projects including Cystrot, Grolby, and No Love Lost, refining his style through years of writing, recording, and performing. In 2004, just days before DevilDriver embarked on a European tour with In Flames, Mike stepped in as a temporary replacement guitarist. Following the tour, he officially became a permanent member of the band.

Since joining DevilDriver, Mike has contributed to albums including The Fury of Our Maker’s Hand, The Last Kind Words, Pray for Villains, and Beast while touring extensively around the world. In addition to his work with DevilDriver, he has composed and recorded music for film projects and collaborated on music featured in the MX vs ATV Reflex video game soundtrack.

Known for his heavy rhythm playing, tight articulation, and aggressive tone, Mike relies on S.I.T. Strings for the tuning stability, durability, and consistency required for modern metal performance and recording.
