About

Jake Skolnick, also known as Jakovich, is a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, label founder, and multi-instrumentalist whose work has made him a prominent figure in the international folk-punk and world-punk communities. Based in San Diego, California, Jake is best known as the frontman of QUEL BORDEL!, a genre-defying group that blends punk rock energy with folk traditions and influences from around the globe.

In addition to his work as a performer, Jake founded Mannequin Vanity Records in 2013, an independent label that has become a respected platform for folk-punk, world-punk, and underground artists. Through both his label and his own musical projects, he has helped connect musicians and audiences across continents while supporting a vibrant international music community.

Jake also performs mandolin with the international supergroup BandàBordel, a collaborative project that combines members of QUEL BORDEL! and the French band BandàpArt along with other musicians from around the world. Beyond these projects, he remains active in a variety of collaborations, including his gypsy jazz-inspired original project, Jacquou Jazz.

Formed in San Diego in 2013, QUEL BORDEL! quickly developed a reputation for energetic live performances and an eclectic sound that blends punk rock with folk, world music, and traditional influences. What began with two Filipino brothers, a classically trained violinist, and a punk rock drummer evolved into an internationally touring act. Over more than a decade, the band has released multiple recordings, performed more than 150 shows annually at its peak, and toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, and beyond.

Whether performing with QUEL BORDEL!, BandàBordel, Jacquou Jazz, or supporting artists through Mannequin Vanity Records, Jake continues to push musical boundaries while building connections through music, culture, and community.
