About

Dave Gregor is a guitarist, songwriter, and founding member of the legendary death metal band Morta Skuld. Although he didn't pick up a guitar until the age of 22, Dave quickly found his calling after discovering death metal and immersing himself in the genre's dark, aggressive sound.

Inspired by the intensity and heaviness of early death metal, Dave immediately down-tuned his guitar and began writing the material that would eventually become Dying Remains, Morta Skuld's influential debut album. While he briefly attended a local music college, he soon realized that traditional instruction wasn't aligned with the style of music he wanted to pursue. Instead, he focused on developing his own sound and songwriting approach through experience and dedication.

Within months, Morta Skuld was formed, combining American death metal aggression with strong European influences. The band's unique sound quickly gained attention and led to a record deal with the renowned UK label Peaceville Records, home to some of the most respected names in extreme metal.

Throughout the band's original run, Morta Skuld released four albums and shared stages with some of the biggest names in metal, including Slayer. After an extended hiatus, the band returned in 2012 and has continued to build upon its legacy through new releases and extensive touring.

Since reuniting, Morta Skuld has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and South America, introducing their music to a new generation of death metal fans while maintaining the respect and admiration of longtime supporters. Dave continues to be the driving creative force behind the band's crushing riffs, dark atmosphere, and unmistakable sound.

Why S.I.T.?

“After a friend gave me a set of S.I.T. Strings almost 20 years ago, I quickly realized they were something special. Not only are the strings incredible, but the people behind the company have always made me feel like an important artist no matter the situation. Their strings are among the best I've ever played, with very little stretching required and exceptional consistency from set to set. They've become an essential part of my sound.”
