Growing up in Northeast Ohio, Michael Bess began his love for music at a young age. Listening to an eclectic group of music from that included country roots with the likes of John Conlee and Willie Nelson, to the soulful grit filled voices of Rod Stewart and Melissa Etheridge.
By fourteen years old, he was being ushered into local establishments where he would hon his craft of laying down the foundation for many bands. Following high school graduation, Michael earned a Bachelors of Music Business degree from Berklee College of Music.
It wasn’t until partaking in a recording session in Kent, OH with Jacob Blazer (of the then Two Skinny Dorks) that Michael learned of SIT Strings. After playing a pack of four strings from SIT, the love for the natural feel, and overall durability is what captivated Michael to remain loyal all these years later.
Coming off a successful three years of sessions, Michael found himself playing on Nathan King’s 2017 independent release “Heaven Tonight,” which garnered a nomination at the 2018 Independent Music Awards for Country Album of the Year. A 2017 finalist for top bassist in Pittsburgh, PA by Iron City Rocks, Michael is recently recording and touring with country artist Michael Christopher.
