Shawn Cole

DrUnK MoNkeY

Throughout the Midwest, when someone mentions a One-Man-Band, most people think of Shawn Cole.  Cole’s show is raw and unpretentious.  He doesn’t use loopers or backing tracks. He simultaneously plays the drums, harmonica, guitar and some percussion, while soaring his raspy voice above the mix.

Now in his 18th year working full time as a musician, Cole rarely performs solo shows. His band, DrUnK MoNkeY, performs mini tours nearly every weekend. With daredevil stunts on the upright bass, and in-your-face saxophone solos, the band has amassed a huge following throughout NE, KS and IA.  You can follow them at Drunkmonkeyband.com

Cole now resides in Milford, KS. When he isn’t fishing is often working as a session player.  He has recorded harmonica for countless acts over the years. To date, his work with the band Bright Eyes has been most notable.

Why S.I.T.?

“My high school buddy, Jason Wells, turned me on to SIT strings a decade ago.  I use the S1052, Heavy Bottom, Power Wound Nickel strings, on my 91’ Stratocaster.   Those strings give a lot of low end resonance to my sound.

I use the CRT coated (13-56) strings on my main acoustic, a Takamine EF360S BG.  They sound huge and project the big, balanced beauty of that guitar.

“I never worry about my strings. The quality is incredibly consistent.”
