Matthew Sullivan, known as Sully, began his musical journey as a teenage guitarist, eventually earning a scholarship to study Jazz Studies and Classical guitar at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). After graduating, Sully relocated to Las Vegas in the mid-1990s, where he quickly established himself as a sought-after guitarist in the city’s thriving music scene.
During his time in Las Vegas, Sully’s talent led him to perform in major showrooms, backing renowned artists and participating in high-profile productions. His notable engagements included: Cirque Du Soleil’s Ka, David Cassidy’s shows, and Sheena Easton’s performances.These opportunities in Las Vegas served as a springboard for Sully’s career, leading to touring opportunities with many of the artists and shows he had worked with in the city.
In 2002, Sully embarked on a creative venture, writing and producing his debut CD of original rock music with his band, The Sullied. The band released two albums: 1. “Meltdown” – Their debut album, which received critical acclaim 2. “The Sullied” – The self-titled follow-up, also well-received Sully’s compositions for The Sullied showcased a diverse range of musical influences, blending elements from artists like Jimi Hendrix to composers such as Igor Stravinsky.
In 2004, Sully co-founded the tribute show Bruce In The USA, dedicated to performing the music of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Initially conceived as a side project, the show’s popularity has led to a successful 20-year run, with ongoing tours across the United States and internationally.
