Randy Gentry
Born April 2, 1964 in Peoria, Illinois, Randy Gentry received a very early musical background when his parents used to take him to many of the Country-Western Musical Road shows in the late 60’s and early 70’s. After that, Randy’s influences and preferences became more rock oriented with the influences of The Beatles, Kiss and Jimi Hendrix. After hearing artists like that, there was no doubt as to what Randy wanted to pursue.Moving to California, Randy received his first taste of band life, performing in one of many neighborhood bands. His love of music grew by leaps and bounds as his dedication became more and more apparent. Eventually Randy became the guitar player in Thunder Road, after moving back to Tennessee in 1990, along with brother Gary Gentry,Phil Arcangel & drummer John Zipfel.Thunder Road achieved good success, playing in many clubs in and around the Nashville area. Eventually, Phil Arcangel re-located to Philadelphia and from a mixture of lineups as Thunder Road, MACH 4 has evolved.
Randy’s influences are “too many to list all” but include Jimi Hendrix, George Lynch, the late Randy Rhoads, Neal Schon, the late Michael Hedges and Monte Montgomery, but Randy’s greatest influence and inspiration comes from his girlfriend, MACH 4 vocalist Cindy Burch, who “inspires me to reach beyond the stars.” Randy’s goal is to get the music out to as many people as possible, while “spreading the word” of current and any future endorsers.
Randy is currently writing and recording a guitar CD as well as a new MACH 4 CD which will be available on this site and looking forward to what the future holds for himself and his endorsers, present and future.
