Record label Capitol signedg the band without a demo, strictly on their live performance at Ozzfest. The result was their debut album Sevas Tra.
When Otep approached the sophomore effort, House of Secrets, she decided to hire producer Greg Wells, who recently worked with The Deftones. "For this record, I wanted to conspire with a really creative producer who not only could write music but was willing to test the limits of it. Before writing "HOUSE", I met Greg and within five minutes I knew I wanted to work with him; his genius at writing, composing, & passion for music excited me. He understood my philosophy of art & it's been the best creative experience I've ever had. House of Secrets is a much more pure album."
As of October/November/December[2006]--Otep Is going on a North american tour promoting the new 3rd album wich is set [TBA]. She has release a song on her myspace site which is composed of 5 second clips of many of the new songs off the upcoming album. With the albulm, she seems to have took many steps to becoming more intense and heavy with her music as well as becoming lighter and and not only having a dark and mysterious sound. While many clips are heavy with intense guitars and screaming vocals, some samples have a light rock or blues influence, much like the song House Of Secrets, and even features guest vocals.
