Hot Action Cop is an American alternative pop/rock band that formed in 2001. They have gained worldwide notoriety through the viral spread of their infectious music. Frontman/writer Rob Werthner got together with lead guitarist Tim Flaherty through a mutual friend and recorded their first demo in that same year. After a few local shows, the demo immediately attracted major label interest and they were signed by Lava/Atlantic Records. Recording throughout 2002 at Oceanway studio in Nashville,TN to complete a full length L.P., their self-titled debut was released on Lava/Atlantic Records in March 2003. The explosive and controversial lead single "Fever for the Flavor" from their eponymous debut, propelled the band onto the world stage. That same year they toured extensively in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe. Their live performances have proven time and again that they deliver an energetic and diverse set. With sounds and styles ranging from rock and soul, to rhythmic funk and rap, they are just as comfortable breaking down to an intimate singer/songwriter performance. They credit their song and sound diversity to the experimental credos of bands like Led Zeppelin and the Beatles. Refusing to fit into a lifestyle or trend branding, their main appeal has been the hookiness and accesibility of their music.

'Fever for the Flava' has been featured on the soundtrack of several movies, including American Wedding, Hot Chick, Grind and The Real Cancun, as well as appearing in episodes of the TV shows King of the Hill, Smallville, Malcolm in the Middle, and The Man Show. The song also garnered live performances of the band in Top of the Pops in the U.K. and Germany. Fever, and the driving rythmn of "Goin down on it" were also prominently featured in the video games Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 and Project Gotham Racing 2 ,where the band has developed a cult following in the gamers community. In addition, frontman Rob Werthner penned the end theme for Samuel Jackson's SWAT movie in 2003.

Two videos for the singles, 'Fever for the Flava' and 'Don't Want Her To Stay' were, and still are played on MTV 2 and MTV Europe, as well as many other global media outlets. 'Fever for the Flava' was also voted #49 on MuchMusic's list of the 50 Most Controversial Videos. Both 'Fever for the Flava' and 'Don't Want Her To Stay' were on the top 10 billboard charts in Australia. In addition the song held the number one position in many U.S. cities for weeks on end, it's controversial content held it back from crossing over to American top 40, but has kept it a cult favorite to this day as evidenced by the 6 to 8,000 daily spins the song receives on the bands myspace page.

In 2004 the band began work on its follow up. The recordings were receiving positive feedback and encouragement from their label. However major corporate transitions and changes at Warner Bros. and Atlantic records caused the bands label support structure to disintergrate. After recording the basics for over 50 tracks throughout 2004 and 2005, it was apparent that the band would have to request to be released from their contract. Nearly two years later they were able to come to terms and regain ownership of their new masters. In the interim they performed regionally throughout 2007 and 2008 having no new record to release, refusing to be defeated. Using their own resources the band pressed on and completed its latest release, a six song EP consisting of contagious alternative pop/rock tracks. Launching their own campaign to promote the new music, Hot Action Cop is now a wiser and completely self contained entity ready to push its way back into the limelight. The band stays in constant contact with it's fans via myspace and has found very positive reception of it's latest offering.
