Mike Vavrek, singer/songwriter. Born in Johnstown, Pa, Mike Vavrek has been playing music since age 12. " i started as a drummer, then bass, eventually leading to the guitar." Through numerous bands(among which Colora is of note) Mike has explored musical genres far and wide. "Seems to be a large part of my particular sound, not giving up on any 1 genre, or limiting myself to just 1." Picking up his older brothers guitar, and being left-handed, Vavrek taught himself to play up-side down. "I listened to mostly live recordings, tried to find the notes, and trained my ear through hours and hours-then eventually years of practice." 20 some odd years later, and still learning, Mike Vavrek is making moves, and grabbing the attention of some very interesting musicians of note( Mike Suppa, Ron Russell,to name a few) So, if you haven't heard of Mike Vavrek, you will!
