And Then There Was Bear
The debut project of Arkansas native Brandon “Bear” Alanis; And Then There Was Bear, has been a long time in the making. With a musical background that recounts childhood memories of drumming along to warped Steely Dan and Parlaiment/ Funkadelic LP’s, Bear honed his chops as an undergraduate music performance major at the University of Central Arkansas. This environment fueled creativity and a fervent passion for music. The now multi-instrumentally talented Bear, began writing and performing with numerous Arkansas musicians concentrating on his skills as a drummer and using the guitar as a way to relax and separate himself from the strenuous practice schedule and constant performances on percussion.

After hitting the road as a drum and guitar technician working with some of the biggest bands in modern rock, Bear decided that is was time to step out from behind the scenes, and share his musical creations with an audience. With the blessings of his close friends and coworkers in Shinedown, Bear started his live performance schedule out full force. This past summer And Then There Was Bear spread its smooth southern sound, opening for Shinedown’s Anything and Everything Acoustic Tour. The outcome was truly humbling and the opportunity to share a creation of love with thousands of people showing their support only motivated Bear to continue down the path of a full time musician.

Coinciding with the tour, And Then There Was Bear released the debut self titled EP. With songs that seem to pull from opposite angles; the fictional side and the true feelings or experiences in life, “And Then There Was Bear” gave fans something to identify with on a personal level. Songs such as “Mortal Man” and “Rollin’” give listeners an identifiable melody, with true to heart lyrics that only help to bring fans into the mind and feelings of Bear.
In his own words, Bear describes it best, “I’m just a guy that loves writing songs and loves to see and hear people enjoy my music. I don't care about the frills of rock and roll or trying to present a different image than what I am when I'm at home working in my shop. I am who I am and that’s what I want people to latch onto, my honesty.” In a world full of anything but, And Then There Was Bear is the band for those who feel the same way, and the future is limitless for anyone of such musical caliber, glorious proportions, and honest intentions.
